Mueller’s debut graphic novel Contes d’un homme de goût was published in France in 2013. The book concerns the misadventures of Mueller’s quasi-alterego Millington F. Millborough and collects an array of experimental short stories and what the artist refers to as mood comics. Though set in a fictional version of small town America between the world wars Millborough shares many of Mueller’s characteristics; almost identical in appearance both have a passion for playing with toy soldiers, victorian architecture, the splendors of the female breast, and enjoy to spend their time consumed by deep pseudo-philosophical meditation.
