“Matters Of Mind” in Montpellier.

If you find yourself near the beautiful French city of Montpellier this April, I would like to invite you to visit En trait libres for a chance to see a caboodle of Millborough-related items. Aside from pages from my comics, the exhibition will not only present my Sassafras County diorama, but also a selection of very recent and never publicly exhibited paintings and sculptures. It should be a wonderful opportunity to visit Millborough’s peculiar world and I would be veryRead more

UNVERÖFFENTLICHT Exhibition.

The Ludwiggalerie Schloss Oberhausen is currently showing a sample of unpublished work from comic artists throughout Germany. UNVERÖFFENTLICHT – Die deutsche Comicszene packt aus! (Unpublished – the comic scene unpacks!) features works by over 50 artists from Wilhelm Busch to contemporaries like Ulli Lust, Ralf König and, well, me. I have contributed a selection of Millborough strips that for one reason or another were rejected by the editors at Journal SPIROU over the last years. The journal’s readership is mainlyRead more

Possessed by Paul James.

I recently had the big pleasure of creating artwork for one of my favourite musicians: Possessed by Paul James. This is the third poster I have created for him since 2012 and the fourth time I put him on a poster in total (the first one being the poster for the 2008 film The Folk Singer). The artwork’s center piece—a drawing of Konrad (a.k.a. Possessed by Paul James) on stage—is based on a photograph by George L. Blosser, who generouslyRead more

The Mighty Millborough – Verhalen van een man met smaak.

My first Millborough book has just been published in Dutch and I couldn’t be happier. The production is fantastic and I really like the slightly smaller size vs. the original French edition. It adds a surprising amount of charm. It’s also the very first of my books that I can actually read. On a glance the cover might seem similar to the 2013 French edition, but upon closer inspection one will notice that it has in fact been completely redrawn.Read more

Bon Voyage exhibition.

Back in October (what feels like an eternity ago), shortly before Germany embarked on a long shut down, I spent a week at the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst to put one of my larger works on one of the museums hallowed walls. The mural-comic is part of YOUR WAY, an homage-installation that celebrates the conceptual artist Stanley Brouwn and which aims to encourage visitors to participate in one of Brouwn’s works. My humble contribution is of course only oneRead more

Mineshaft Magazine 39.

The new issue of Mineshaft Magazine is here! This time some of my contributions include a very personal “2020” cover-drawing and my story “On A Morning Stroll With Aline & Robert“, featuring the grand dame of underground comix Aline Kominsky-Crumb giving me my very first yoga experience and her husband Robert, with whom I ponder underwear of the 1800s and sowing on buttons. As always this issue is jam packed with wonderful work by artists like R. Crumb, Billy Childish,Read more
